Rare Documentary About St Macarius Monastery (Solitudes, French Television 1970)

The documentary “Solitudes” was shot in 1970 by the French public television program “Le Jour du Seigneur”. It recorded the first years of the refoundation of the Monaster of St Macarius the Great by Father Matthew the Poor and his disciples, as it offers us the maxims of the hermit Elia al-Makari, shows us the simple life of Father Gorgios of the Monastery of St Pishoi the Great and of some monks of the Monastery of St Anthony the Great.
